Job summary

CM Mission Critical Engineering in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to ensure safety during fire events and design sprinkler and alarm systems in line with building codes. You will analyze fire risks, develop evacuation plans, and produce coordinated drawings across disciplines.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or related field, with 1–3 years of fire protection design experience. E.I.T.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of fire protection design experience.
• E.I.T. certification preferred but not required.
• PE certification or licensure pursued is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce highly detailed construction drawings across all disciplines.

• Design compliant and effective fire protection systems and fire alarm systems.
• Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction-phase documentation.

Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer

Reports to: Principal

Job Summary:

The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for ensuring structural integrity & safety during fire events, utilizing science & engineering principles to protect people, property, & businesses from fire & smoke. This role involves analyzing fire risks to design specialized systems like sprinklers & alarms, ensuring building code compliance, & developing evacuation plans.

• Coordinates with internal team members to support project success

Required Skills/Abilities

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit &/or AutoCAD

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or a closely related engineering field is required
• 1-3 years of fire protection design experience
• E.I.T. certification preferred but not required
• PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
• Ability to travel and move throughout construction sites intermittently as required by project needs.
