Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support the design and permitting of fire protection systems for manufacturing and industrial facilities in Texas. You will focus on code compliance, fire protection analysis, permit approvals, and coordinating with local authorities.

Responsibilities include developing fire protection reports, creating code analyses for permits, and collaborating with AHJ for performance-based design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in fire protection engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering.
• Experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to organize time and tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
• Familiar with fire protection systems and fire smoke detection systems.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection reports for new production lines, materials, suppression, and detection systems.
• Prepare code analyses and permit documents for site projects (high-piled storage, chemical hazards, Hazard Analyses).
• Submit AM&M (alternate means & methods) requests to AHJ to support performance-based design.
• Perform life-safety design from schematic through commissioning.
• Oversee implementation and inspections of specialty systems.
• Develop process improvements, workflows, and templates to improve design productivity and deliverables quality.

This Fire Protection Engineer supports the design and permitting of fire protection systems for manufacturing and industrial facilities in Texas. The role focuses on code compliance, fire protection analysis, permit approvals, and coordination with local authorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and create fire protection reports for new production lines, materials, suppression, and detection systems coming to the factory
• Develop and create a complete set of code analysis and reports for permit documents for various site projects, including but not limited high-piled storage analysis, chemical hazard analysis, and Hazard Analysis
• Develop and summit AM&M (alternate means & methods) to local AHJ to help with performance-based design criteria to meet the intent of code
• Code planning /life safety design (schematic design through commissioning)
• Implementation and inspections of specialty systems implementation
• Develop process improvements, workflows, and templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables

Requirements

• Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or equivalent experience
• Licensed Fire Protection Engineer 5+ years relevant experience required
• Experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to organize time and tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines
• Familiar with fire protection systems and fire smoke detection systems
• Must be self-motivated and thrive in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
