Job summary

Thomas Young Group in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Designer to join a top interdisciplinary design firm delivering healthcare, education, government and other projects.

You will design and review fire protection and life safety systems, collaborate with A/E disciplines, and prepare detailed specifications and calculations. The firm offers a robust benefits program and opportunities to shape cities and communities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fire protection design/engineering.
• PE license or the ability to obtain one.
• Proficiency in Revit and BIM software.
• Strong understanding of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across disciplines.
• Detail-oriented with experience in system calculations and creating specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and review fire protection and life safety systems on multi-discipline projects.
• Coordinate with other A/E disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
• Engage in design review meetings and workshops to align with client goals and project needs.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive fire protection packages, including fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety.
• Create detailed specification documentation for fire alarm and suppression systems.
• Perform fire protection calculations to ensure accuracy and code compliance.

What you'll be doing:

Participate in the design and review of fire protection and life safety systems on multi-discipline projects
