Job description

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. This role includes planning, designing, and commissioning fire protection systems for a variety of projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordination with other support disciplines and regional offices
• Assisting fire protection engineers in building project designs
• Following quality assurance and quality control plans

Required abilities and attributes:

• Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
• Interfacing with project teams on design, delivery, and construction
• Managing project budgets and schedules
• Designing fire protection systems throughout the project lifecycle
• Utilizing BIM software for construction drawings
• Using software-based calculation tools for design calculations
• Managing multiple assignments concurrently
• Time management and commitment to product quality
• Adherence to Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
• Commitment to continuing education and team development

Minimum requirements:

• 5-10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience
• Knowledge of fire protection engineering principles
• Proven experience with detailed fire protection plans and specifications
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience with Autodesk Revit
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Preferred skills:

• NICET certification in Fire Protection
• Experience with AIA MasterSpec
• Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
