Job summary

P2S|CMTA in Long Beach, CA or Seattle, WA seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to design and analyze fire protection systems across markets. 5–9 years' experience, AutoCAD and Revit proficiency, and knowledge of NFPA standards are required; sprinkler calculation software is a plus.

Hybrid schedule, $115,000–$150,000 salary with bonus eligibility. You will perform code analyses, develop system layouts and construction documents, run hydraulic and fire alarm calculations, conduct site assessments, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–9 years of experience in fire protection system design (sprinkler and/or fire alarm).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with sprinkler calculation software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCALC).
  • Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fire and building code analysis.
  • Design fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and specialized suppression systems.
  • Develop system layouts and construction documents.
  • Perform sprinkler hydraulic calculations and fire alarm calculations.
  • Conduct site assessments and prepare technical reports.
  • Support senior engineers with engineering analyses (e.g., smoke control, hazardous materials, energy storage systems, combustible dust).
  • Provide construction phase support, including: Responding to RFIs, Reviewing submittals, Participating in punch walks.

Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 remote)


Employment Type:

Full-Time


Salary Range:

$115,000 - $150,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.


Position Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • 5–9 years of experience in fire protection system design (sprinkler and/or fire alarm)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

  • Experience with sprinkler calculation software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCALC)

  • Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA standards


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with healthcare, education, and/or federal projects

  • Master’s degree in Fire Protection

  • Exposure to project management or business development

  • EIT or PE license

  • NICET certification (Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm)
