Job summary

HDR is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Principal Engineer to lead complex design for the BES group in the New York Purchase area. This role influences project execution, client relations, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, delivering high-performance safety systems for critical facilities.

You will develop scope, schedule, and fees; mentor staff; represent HDR in the engineering community; and ensure design excellence while aligning with HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required).
• 20+ years of professional engineering experience with a PE license.
• Design leadership for large, complex buildings; cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Fire & Life Safety design for projects across the BES group.
• Develop scope, schedule, and fees; manage client expectations.
