JOB SUMMARY

Oshkosh AeroTech is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Fire, Life & Safety Officer to oversee the proper testing, maintenance, and compliance of our fire protection systems. This role is critical in ensuring the facility remains compliant with local and state fire codes, while coordinating repairs and inspections efficiently and accurately.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Test and repair fire systems when necessary.
  • Escort fire protection vendors when testing and/or repairs are necessary.
  • Maintain records and paperwork for testing and repair performed. All documents must meet state and local regulations.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine need for changes.
  • Ensure that systems are tested and maintained according to local, state and fire code.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid drivers license
  • Working knowledge of fire system components and testing procedures.
  • Excellent recordkeeping and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in fire protection, safety compliance, or facilities management strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of Fire, Life & Safety Officer, the team member is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or fell objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member is occasionally required to sit.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The team member regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The team member’s work may occur in various environments, including mechanical rooms and exterior building locations. The team member must be available for emergency calls or inspections as needed.
