Job summary

scgov is seeking a Certified Fire Safety Inspector to enforce fire and life safety codes, inspect systems, and ensure safe handling of hazardous materials. You will coordinate with multiple departments and maintain occupancy records in a county setting.

Qualified candidates must hold Florida Fire Safety Inspector certification, possess a high school diploma, and have at least one year of inspection experience. A valid Florida driver's license is required at hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of Fire Safety Inspector experience.
• Current Florida Fire Safety Inspector Certificate.
• Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Enforce fire and life safety codes and perform inspections.
• Survey commercial structures for hazardous materials and report for pre-incident planning.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of flammable and hazardous materials.
• Inspect fire protection systems for compliance with codes and standards.
• Coordinate with County Building & Standards on occupancy releases and inspections.
• Provide inspection support beyond Fire Department jurisdiction when needed.
• Maintain records and respond to public inquiries and safety awareness.
