Job summary

SOCOTEC US seeks a curious and motivated intern to join our Fire & Life Safety team. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with engineers on real-building and safety projects, learning how codes, fire protection systems, and life safety practices are applied to design and construction.

You’ll assist with research, plan reviews, site visits, and documentation, developing technical and analytical skills while exposure to field work and client interactions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Interest in fire protection, building safety, or design of buildings.
• Willingness to learn and apply safety codes and practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with building and fire code research and consultation.
• Support Fire Protection Engineers and Life Safety Consultants with project tasks.
• Review building plans and drawings under supervision.
• Learn how life safety requirements are incorporated into designs.
• Gain exposure to fire protection systems and risk analysis.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and field observations.
• Document site conditions and project information for reports.
• Assist with technical reports and project documentation.
• Develop technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Explore different areas of Fire & Life Safety based on interests.
