Description

Overall Responsibility: The candidate shall be responsible for fire/life safety (FLS) system engineering in accordance with Arora's mission of "Improving the quality of life by Rethinking Infrastructure." They must develop and manage FLS designs independently, adhering to codes, standards, and project specifications, while meeting client needs. Strong communication skills are essential for collaboration with team members and clients during the design process.


Essential Functions:


  • Management and oversight of Fire/Life Safety staff.
  • Management, oversight, reporting, and accountability for project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Project cost management, including monitoring financial performance, participating in billing reviews, addressing aged receivables, and maximizing profitability through budgeting and resource management.
  • Project time management, including planning, organizing, monitoring, and scheduling to ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Project quality management, ensuring compliance with QA/QC programs and utilizing Blue Beam software for reviews.
  • Development of project work plans and procedures.
  • Preparation of technically accurate fire protection and fire alarm documents complying with all codes and standards.
  • Design and analysis of fire protection and fire alarm systems for new and existing facilities.
  • Coordination with building architecture and systems, site surveys, inspections, RFIs, and punch list generation.
  • Safety management, including risk assessments and safety program components.
  • Maintaining project reporting systems and closeout procedures.
  • External communication with co-workers, clients, authorities, and representing Arora externally.
  • Conducting internal meetings to review progress, issues, and quality.

Qualifications


Secondary Functions:

  • Supporting growth, recruitment, business development, mentorship, and industry participation within FLS practice.

Needed Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of FLS design for water-based fire protection and alarms, including NFPA standards and building codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, MS Office, and hydraulic fire protection modeling software.
  • Understanding of passive fire protection, fire dynamics, smoke management, and egress systems.
  • Experience with construction cost estimating, proposal writing, and fee estimation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.

Education/Experience Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with 10 years of relevant experience and PE licensure.
  • Preferred certifications include CFPS, NICET in water-based systems, or related specialties.
