Job summary

Century Fire Protection is hiring a full-time Fire Extinguisher Technician in Clearwater, FL. You will inspect, repair, and test extinguishers using hand tools and hydrostatic testing equipment, and hydro-test high-pressure cylinders.

Duties include dismantling extinguishers, replacing parts, cleaning and recharging with agents, testing for compliance with standards, installing cabinets/brackets, and supporting sales efforts.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 1–3 years related experience or training preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle extinguishers and examine tubing, horns, head gaskets, cutter discs, and other parts for defects; replace worn or damaged parts.
• Clean extinguishers and recharge with various agents.
• Test extinguishers for conformity with legal specifications.
• Install cabinets and brackets to hold extinguishers.
• Facilitate and support sales of fire extinguishers.

Summary

Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices. Hydro-test high pressure cylinders. Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Dismantle extinguishers and examine tubing, horns, head gaskets, cutter discs, and other parts for defects. replaces worn or damaged parts.
• Clean extinguishers and recharge with various agents, including soda water and sulfuric acid, carbon tetrachloride, nitrogen, or patented solutions or other.
• Test extinguishers for conformity with legal specifications.
• Install cabinets and brackets to hold extinguishers.
• Facilitate and support sales of fire extinguishers.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
