City of Pittsburgh is seeking an Equipment Technician to inspect, repair, service and test a wide range of equipment and tools used across the department. You will assist in coordinating inventory control and ensuring adequate supplies for the bureau.

The role involves inspecting firefighting support equipment, preparing part orders, delivering gear to vendors and stations, and supporting special event details.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience inspecting, repairing and servicing tools, equipment and small motors.
• Education/training not required for this position.
• Equivalency may substitute education for work experience to meet the total requirement.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, repairs, services, maintains and tests equipment and tools.
• Inspects firefighting support equipment and tools.
• Coordinates inventory control, orders materials and ensures supplies.
• Prepares inventory reports of supplies and equipment movement.
• Washes, orders, delivers and evaluates replacement of protective clothing.
• Delivers equipment to contracted vendors and for special events.
• Prepares and assists with unloading material; operates related equipment.
• May drive a truck or trailer lighter than one ton.
• Inspects mechanical equipment and replaces parts as needed.
• Tests mobile and stationary equipment to diagnose problems.
• May operate cutting torch, welding, hoisting cranes as required.
• May work shifts and perform other related tasks.
