Job summary

Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking hard working and dedicated Fire Engineers. Fire Engineers receive and respond to fire alarms, medical calls and emergencies, drive firefighting equipment, and perform scene operations with technician level proficiency as assigned within the Fire Division.

This role requires graduation from high school, two years of career firefighting experience, a suite of NC certifications, NFPA 1580 related medical and physical requirements, and the

Qualifications

  • High school or GED required; two years of career firefighting experience (three years volunteer equals one year).
  • Must hold and maintain NC Fire Fighter I/II, EMT Basic and HazMat Level I certifications.
  • NFPA 1580 physical/fitness standard and pre-employment medical exam compliance.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and incident command training per NIMS standards.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to fire alarms, medical calls, and emergencies.
  • Drive firefighting equipment and operate it on scene with technician level proficiency.
  • Conduct fire operations including rescue, salvage, and overhaul activities.
  • Perform fire prevention inspections and fire origin/cause investigations.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations and incident activities as assigned.
