Job summary

San Bernardino County Fire Protection District seeks a Division Chief to lead one of the department’s functional divisions and help guide the district’s future direction while ensuring public safety for residents and visitors of the County.

Division Chiefs report to a Deputy or Assistant Chief and may provide Battalion coverage as needed. A strong, forward-thinking leadership approach is essential for this senior role.

Qualifications

• Progressively responsible management fire command experience.
• Associate's degree or equivalent coursework required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Certification: State Fire Officer/Chief Fire Officer/Executive Chief Fire Officer or equivalent national certification required.
• CICCS qualifications desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and managerial oversight for one division (e.g., Administration, Training and Safety, EMS, Wildland, Aviation, Emergency Management, or Volunteer Forces).
• Serve as County-Wide Duty Chief and cover Battalion duties when needed.
• Report to Deputy or Assistant Fire Chief and guide future district direction.
