Fire Detection Service Technician 3
We are looking for a skilled service technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain electronic fire alarm, security, access control, and life‑safety systems at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and assess equipment or system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain problems and communicate status updates.
- Diagnose problems and perform repair or replacement of electronic fire alarm systems, access control panels, security intrusion devices, and related building system products.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to complete repairs.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install a variety of manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems, including Simplex/Grinnell.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit excellent customer‑service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
- Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service call assignment.
- Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support when required.
- Help to train or mentor other service team members and perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by providing timely solutions and outcomes during service visits.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Good working knowledge of computers required for programming and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical capability to lift 50–70 pounds, climb ladders, work in ducts, crawl spaces, and reach up to 40ft.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and possible overnight travel.
- High level of customer service and ability to maintain truck inventory for timely response.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and quick learning ability.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Retention of any licenses required by National, State, or Local codes.
Preferred
- Technical training, NICET II qualification or equivalent.
Compensation
Hourly rate range: $26.54 – $35.62 (determined by experience, skills, and market data). The position includes a competitive benefits package.
