Job summary

The City of Alexandria seeks a Fire Maintenance Supervisor to plan and supervise maintenance and repair of all vehicles in the Alexandria Fire Department. You will manage budgets, schedules, and a small team of Automotive Mechanics under the Logistics Battalion Chief’s supervision.

Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, monitoring warranties, and maintaining comprehensive records. Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and automotive systems is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, plus automotive repair courses.
• 3–5 years supervisory/maintenance management in automotive repair.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards for fire apparatus and ambulances.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise maintenance and repair of Fire Department vehicles.
• Oversee shop budget, purchasing, and inventory management.
• Schedule work, monitor quality and productivity, supervise mechanics.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for body repairs, transmissions, tires, etc.
• Monitor warranties, recalls, and ensure manufacturer-reported work is performed.
• Maintain records and prepare reports on maintenance activities.
