Job summary

The City of Alexandria seeks a Fire Maintenance Supervisor to plan and supervise maintenance and repair of all vehicles assigned to the Alexandria Fire Department. You will manage scheduling and a small team of Automotive Mechanics to keep vehicles in proper operating condition.

You will assist with budget planning, monitor contracts with vendors, track inventory, and prepare reports. NFPA standards knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and on-call availability are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, with automotive repair courses.
• 3–5 years of supervisory/maintenance management experience in automotive care.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards for fire apparatus and ambulances.
• Must have a valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles for road testing.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise maintenance and repair of all Fire Department vehicles.
• Supervise Automotive Mechanics and schedule work to ensure quality and productivity.
• Establish contracts and service agreements with outside vendors and approve repairs.
• Monitor warranties, recalls, and ensure manufacturer-covered work.
• Maintain inventory and prepare reports on repairs and maintenance.
