FIRE DAMAGES DISCOVERY PARALEGAL

JOB DESCRIPTION: Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented damages discovery paralegal to join our fire team. This position is fast-paced and supports a team of attorneys performing litigation and discovery in state and federal courts. It will involve collaboration of other paralegals and case assistants.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

$30.00-$41.00/hr

Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing high-volume written discovery responses related to damages sustained in wildfires, including Damage Questionnaires in multiple jurisdictions throughout California, Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, and Hawaii.
  • Management of electronic information, document management, and document review including bates-stamping, redacting, scanning, coding, and searching in complex litigation.
  • Identifying, tracking, and managing case-related deadlines in an electronic calendaring system.
  • Contacting a diverse clientele to obtain sensitive and emotional information related to their claim, while also issue spotting damage documents needed to substantiate claims.
  • Staying abreast of rules of civil procedure in both state and federal courts, including CM/ECF filing/Pacer and other filing programs for state courts.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates must possess a paralegal certificate or meet the Bus. & Prof. Code § 6450 requirements.
  • Experience handling written discovery in civil litigation, including drafting objections, obtaining information and documents from clients, responding to meet and confer letters, and redacting documents based on privacy and privilege objections.
  • Familiar withE-Discovery andlaw programs such as, Sharefile, PACER, CaseAnywhere, Lexis, Smart Advocate, Everlaw, FileVine, OneLegal, File & Serve Express, JAMS portal, Milana, VineSign, and others as needed.
  • Proficient in Adobe, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Outlook
  • A successful candidate will be detail oriented and organized, be a team player, be reliable, and capable of multitasking and managing several time-critical projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in litigation involving wildfires, class actions, or mass torts is preferred, but not necessary.
