Job summary

Qualifications

  • Aegis Weapon System maintenance with shipboard and training/instructional tours.
  • Ability to discuss technical and operational concepts related to Aegis systems.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • US Citizenship and final DoD Secret Security Clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver formal training for internal and external customers.
  • Develop and revise training materials and curricula for AWS and FCS MK99.
  • Conduct instructor evaluations and submit training reports.

Standard Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Aegis Weapon System (AWS) Instructor with an FCS MK99 background to support the Aegis International Programs team and conduct schoolhouse and waterfront training. Support a multi-instructor and developer workforce providing instruction and curricula updates for our International Program customers and in support of schoolhouse and shipboard training. Assist in the development of new training materials, revise existing curricula, and support simulation virtual courseware updates and deployment. Deliver formal training for internal and external customers, conduct instructor evaluations, and submit training reports. The work for this position will be in Dahlgren, VA. Travel opportunities to support our international customers in locations such as Japan, Australia, Norway, Canada and South Korea may also be available. US Citizenship is required and successful candidate must have a final DoD Secret Security Clearance to qualify. Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs for customers, and/or employees, and field support personnel. Technical training may include standard, repeatable modules, customized and new product modules. Obtains information from customer and technical organizations, engineering, software and product requirements to prepare training programs; prepares lesson plans and training materials; designs product demonstrations; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions, product demonstrations, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. May administer tests. Continuously revises lesson plans to ensure course material reflect product features, meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. May include military trainers.

Basic Qualifications
  • Certified as Navy Instructor with applicable Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) code, previous instructor experience with documented certification, or a Bachelor's degree in education.
  • Graduate of a BL7 or BL9 US Navy Aegis Fire Control System (FCS) MK99 Operation and Maintenance course
  • Aegis Weapon System maintenance and operational experience with at least one shipboard tour and one training/instructional tour.
  • Ability to discuss technical and operational concepts related to Aegis Weapon System and Aegis Combat System.
  • Proven communication skills with the ability to work independently and as a team contributor.
  • US Citizenship is required and successful candidate must have a final DoD Secret Security Clearance to qualify.
Desired Skills
  • Graduate of US Navy Aegis Weapon System (AWS) Operation and Maintenance (O&M) course.
  • Master Training Specialist Certification
  • Relevant USN Aegis Baseline 9 operational experience
  • Relevant USN BMD 5 operational experience
  • Qualified Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC) watchstander
  • Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) operation and/or maintenance experience
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72500.00 - $134600.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
