Job summary

County Emergency Communications is recruiting Fire Dispatcher opportunities at Fort Gregg Adams. Roles may require staffing at all hours, including overnights, weekends and during major incidents.

A high school diploma is commonly required, with fire dispatch certification or EMD training preferred. Applicants should be comfortable with computer systems, maps, and radio communication, and must remain adaptable to shift schedules and emergency staffing needs as part of a dedicated public safety

Qualifications

• Experience with emergency dispatch systems or fire communications is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent; some agencies require dispatch training or certification.
• Ability to operate computer systems, manage maps, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
