Bexar County is seeking a Deputy Fire Marshal to enforce the Texas Fire Code and educate the public. Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, you will inspect buildings for fire hazards, explain requirements to architects and owners, and lead follow-up actions to ensure compliance.

The role requires certification as Basic Fire Inspector or Investigator, peace officer training, ongoing CE, and the ability to work with multiple agencies.

Formación

• High school or GED and two years of fire code or arson investigations or equivalent education/experience.
• Completion of the Texas Basic Peace Officer Course.
• Possession of TCOLE license and TCFP fire inspector/investigator certification.
• Must maintain required continuing education for TCFP and TCOLE.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect buildings for fire code violations and hazardous conditions.
• Explain fire code requirements to architects, contractors, and the public.
• Identify corrective actions to achieve compliance and explain to owners.
• Attend training to maintain knowledge of fire prevention and safety.
• Write detailed reports of inspections and corrective recommendations.
• Inspect and test fire protection and detection systems for compliance.
• Develop or review fire exit plans and safety procedures.
• Work with various agencies and departments to ensure coordinated responses.
