Job summary

The City of Jersey Village, Texas, is seeking an inspirational Fire Chief to lead its fully professionalized career fire department. The chosen candidate will join the City’s Executive Team, report to the City Manager, and guide EMS operations, staffing, and performance improvements.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate visionary leadership, strong communication, and integrity, with a track record of implementing culture change and service excellence in a fire service setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• At least 10 years of fire service experience, including 5 years in a command-level position.
• Current EMT certification and knowledge of EMS operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct all activities of the Fire Department.
• Establish departmental goals, objectives, and performance measures.
• Prepare and administer annual operating and capital budgets.
• Provide managerial, technical, and operational recommendations to the City Manager.
• Prepare and present administrative, technical, and financial reports to the City Manager and City Council.
• Oversee EMS operations, including ambulance staffing, response performance, and service-level improvement.
• Maintain readiness of department facilities, apparatus, and equipment.
• Build relationships with neighboring fire departments and mutual-aid partners.
• Represent the department before City Council and community stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor's degree in fire science, public administration, emergency management, or related field
