Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety in Houston, TX is seeking a Security Service Technician to independently service and maintain fire, life safety, and security systems on customer sites.

You will diagnose issues, inspect, test, and repair intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems while reading blueprints and documenting work. A valid Texas Fire Alarm license and a Texas Security license are required, along with a high school diploma and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years in fire and life safety as apprentice or technician.
• FAL Texas Fire Alarm License required.
• Texas Security license required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently service, troubleshoot, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including fire and intrusion alarm, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
