Job description

High Rise Fire and Security (HRFS) is a leading fire alarm and life safety solutions provider. We provide a broad range of fire alarm products and services including, but not limited to, the design, installation, service and maintenance of fire alarm systems, card access systems, and surveillance systems. At High Rise, we pride ourselves on our ability to maintain thorough and up-to-date industry knowledge as well as provide expertise in local code requirements. Our employees are equipped with comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in providing and servicing life safety systems throughout New York City, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

We are currently looking for a Fire Alarm Technician, specializing in troubleshooting with two years of EST Panel experience. The technician will perform the duties and responsibilities of an equivalent level Tester and Inspector as needed, respond to service requests, read and understand system status on Fire Alarm Control Panel (condition, address, device), conduct diagnostic tests to determine cause of alarm and/or trouble system status, as well as ground faults, make requisition required parts when necessary to repair problems, adjust, replace, or repair defective device(s) to meet NYC, NFPA, and HRFS requirements, conduct testing on all repaired devices, identify code issues and non-conformance issues, and make recommendations on alternative solutions to client/office, and perform minor programming repairs as needed and directed by Field Service Managers.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent / Some Trade School / 6 months to 2 years trade school certification
  • 4 years of fire alarm technician experience
  • 2 years of EST fire alarm panel troubleshooting experience
Responsibilities:

  • Respond to service requests
  • Read and understand system status on Fire Alarm Control Panel (condition, address, device)
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to determine cause of alarm and/or trouble system status, as well as ground faults
  • Requisition required parts when necessary to repair problems
  • Adjust, replace, or repair defective device(s) to meet NYC, NFPA, and HRFS requirements
  • Conduct testing on all repaired devices as per NYC, NFPA, and HRFS requirements
  • Identify code issues and non-conformance issues, and make recommendations on alternative solutions to client/office
  • Perform minor programming repairs as needed and directed by Field Service Managers
  • Elevate status of service call to Programming Unit as required
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed and materials used
  • Generate system status reports upon completion of troubleshooting work
  • Maintain positive client relations through professional interactions with clients
