Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a skilled installer to assemble, test, and certify life safety systems at client sites in the Helena, MT area. You will read blueprints, install devices, perform functionality tests, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards.

The role requires strong electrical/technical aptitude, 3 years of Fire Alarm experience, and the ability to work on-site with occasional evenings or travel. A NICET pursuit is encouraged within the first year.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and technical aptitude and ability to apply learned skills.
• Minimum of 3 years of Fire Alarm industry experience.
• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Technology pursued within first year of employment.
• Proficient with test equipment: digital multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communication equipment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer-service oriented.
• Experience leading teams or groups on projects.
• Able to work well in a team or independently with good interpersonal skills.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and out-of-town assignments.

Responsibilities

• Install and certify life safety systems and devices per local & national codes.
• Review blueprints to determine device locations and placement.
• Ensure materials and equipment match scope of work and job sold.
• Install equipment according to electrical, fire alarm, and life-safety codes.
• Meet with engineers, property management or site contacts on arrival and departure.
• Verify integrity of work with testing for shorts, grounds and faults.
• Repair as needed for compliant system operation.
• Conduct sound tests to meet NFPA decibel requirements.
• Provide NFPA-compliant documentation and sign-off after testing and certification.
• Maintain accurate work records and submit as-built drawings and NFPA forms.
