Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fire Alarm Technician to join our electrical contracting team. The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm and life-safety systems in commercial, industrial, and other facilities.

Responsibilities:


  • Install, program, test, troubleshoot, inspect, and repair fire alarm and life-safety systems.

  • Perform installations and service work in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, project requirements, and company standards.

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, fire alarm plans, schematics, and specifications.

  • Install and terminate fire alarm devices, panels, modules, notification appliances, initiating devices, and associated wiring.

  • Diagnose system issues and identify the source of equipment, wiring, or communication problems.

  • Perform system testing, inspections, and maintenance as required.

  • Assist with system start-up, commissioning, and final testing.

  • Document testing, inspections, service work, deficiencies, and repairs accurately and completely.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Foremen, electricians, general contractors, inspectors, and customers as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition.

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service when working at customer facilities.

  • Maintain current knowledge of fire alarm technology, equipment, codes, and industry practices.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Physical Demands & Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of experience with fire alarm systems (installation, service, or inspections preferred)

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code)

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • Experience with fire alarm diagnostics

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment (multimeter, megger, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience with common fire alarm manufacturers

  • Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms

  • Ability to work in ceilings, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, confined spaces and other construction environments

  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working overhead for extended periods

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
