Overview

The Fire Alarm Technician 2 provides high-quality customer support through on-site service, complex troubleshooting, programming, installation, and maintenance of various FA Systems under little to no supervision.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan and perform testing and inspection of large fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting deficiencies.
  2. Perform site surveys for potential PM inspections and FA system changes, preparing quotations.
  3. Program and service fire alarm systems of various models.
  4. Troubleshoot FA systems including Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Gamewell, Honeywell, Firelite, etc.
  5. Perform system upgrades and installation based on drawings and submittals.
  6. Conduct pre-testing and final inspections for projects.
  7. Perform PITCO activities.
  8. Complete job documentation such as ROC, Test Forms.
  9. Respond to afterhours service calls as scheduled.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  11. Research online, manuals for materials and procedures.
  12. Provide training to apprentices and crew members.

Education and Experience
  • 5 years relevant experience or
  • 2 years technology degree + 3 years relevant experience
  • High School Diploma (required)
Physical and Personal Requirements
  • Lift at least 100 lbs, 60 lbs for extended periods.
  • Relocate 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, climb scaffolds, lifts, ladders.
  • Perform physical activities regularly.
  • Good vision, color perception, hearing, and communication skills.
  • Work on ladders with tools safely.
  • Recognize problems and apply rules to solve them.
  • See details at close range.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Willing to work on projects anywhere.
  • Pass background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Report on time, work well with others, maintain safety.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, OSHA, and industry standards.
Certifications
  • NICET Level II in FA Systems Inspection and Testing or
  • NICET Level III in Fire Alarm Systems or
  • Pass exam within 90 days of employment
