Overview
The Fire Alarm Technician 2 provides high-quality customer support through on-site service, complex troubleshooting, programming, installation, and maintenance of various FA Systems under little to no supervision.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform testing and inspection of large fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting deficiencies.
- Perform site surveys for potential PM inspections and FA system changes, preparing quotations.
- Program and service fire alarm systems of various models.
- Troubleshoot FA systems including Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Gamewell, Honeywell, Firelite, etc.
- Perform system upgrades and installation based on drawings and submittals.
- Conduct pre-testing and final inspections for projects.
- Perform PITCO activities.
- Complete job documentation such as ROC, Test Forms.
- Respond to afterhours service calls as scheduled.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Research online, manuals for materials and procedures.
- Provide training to apprentices and crew members.

- Battery Sizing, Voltage Drop calculations
- Silent Knight FA programming software
- Keypad programming for various FA Systems
Education and Experience
- 5 years relevant experience or
- 2 years technology degree + 3 years relevant experience
- High School Diploma (required)
Physical and Personal Requirements
- Lift at least 100 lbs, 60 lbs for extended periods.
- Relocate 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, climb scaffolds, lifts, ladders.
- Perform physical activities regularly.
- Good vision, color perception, hearing, and communication skills.
- Work on ladders with tools safely.
- Recognize problems and apply rules to solve them.
- See details at close range.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Willing to work on projects anywhere.
- Pass background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Report on time, work well with others, maintain safety.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, OSHA, and industry standards.
Certifications
- NICET Level II in FA Systems Inspection and Testing or
- NICET Level III in Fire Alarm Systems or
- Pass exam within 90 days of employment
