Overview

The Fire Alarm Technician 2 provides high-quality customer support through on-site service, complex troubleshooting, programming, installation, and maintenance of various FA Systems with minimal supervision. Work is primarily at NIH Campus, Bethesda.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan and perform testing and inspection of large fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting deficiencies.
  2. Perform site surveys for potential PM inspections and FA system modifications, and prepare quotations.
  3. Program and service fire alarm systems of various models.
  4. Troubleshoot FA systems including Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Gamewell, Honeywell, Firelite, etc.
  5. Perform FA system upgrades and installations based on drawings and submittals.
  6. Conduct pre-testing and final inspections for projects.
  7. Perform PITCO activities.
  8. Complete job documentation such as ROC and Test Forms.
  9. Respond to after-hours service calls as scheduled.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
  11. Research installation manuals and manufacturer documents for materials and procedures.
  12. Provide training to apprentices and team members.
Qualifications
  1. HS Diploma/GED with 5 years relevant experience or 2-year tech degree with 3 years relevant experience.
  2. Willing to work overtime as directed.
  3. Willing to work on M.C. Dean, Inc. projects anywhere.
  4. Pass background check and random drug screening.
  5. Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  6. Reliable attendance, teamwork, and safety awareness.
  7. Advanced troubleshooting skills, including online research and manual review.
  8. Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm Theory, OSHA, and industry standards.
Certifications
  1. NICET Level II in Inspection and Testing of FA Systems or
  2. NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III or
  3. Pass exam within 90 days of employment.
Abilities
  1. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as climbing and balancing at heights up to 60 feet.
  2. Visual and auditory acuity, ability to communicate effectively in English.
  3. Recognize problems and apply general rules to solve specific issues.
  4. Detail-oriented with good vision (corrected), color perception, and safety awareness.

  2. Ability to work under stress and maintain high-quality service.

Pay Range

USD $33.00 - USD $39.00 /Hr.
