Overview
The Fire Alarm Technician 2 provides high-quality customer support through on-site service, complex troubleshooting, programming, installation, and maintenance of various FA Systems with minimal supervision. Work is primarily at NIH Campus, Bethesda.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform testing and inspection of large fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting deficiencies.
- Perform site surveys for potential PM inspections and FA system modifications, and prepare quotations.
- Program and service fire alarm systems of various models.
- Troubleshoot FA systems including Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Gamewell, Honeywell, Firelite, etc.
- Perform FA system upgrades and installations based on drawings and submittals.
- Conduct pre-testing and final inspections for projects.
- Perform PITCO activities.
- Complete job documentation such as ROC and Test Forms.
- Respond to after-hours service calls as scheduled.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Research installation manuals and manufacturer documents for materials and procedures.
- Provide training to apprentices and team members.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED with 5 years relevant experience or 2-year tech degree with 3 years relevant experience.
- Willing to work overtime as directed.
- Willing to work on M.C. Dean, Inc. projects anywhere.
- Pass background check and random drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Reliable attendance, teamwork, and safety awareness.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills, including online research and manual review.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm Theory, OSHA, and industry standards.
Certifications
- NICET Level II in Inspection and Testing of FA Systems or
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III or
- Pass exam within 90 days of employment.
Abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as climbing and balancing at heights up to 60 feet.
- Visual and auditory acuity, ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Recognize problems and apply general rules to solve specific issues.
- Detail-oriented with good vision (corrected), color perception, and safety awareness.

Pay Range
USD $33.00 - USD $39.00 /Hr.
