Job summary

VFP Fire Systems, a division of VFPG, in Madison Heights, MI, is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our skilled team. You will service, diagnose, and repair/replace fire alarm systems to uphold high standards and protect client properties.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting Notifier Onyx Series, programming new installations, reading blueprints, and communicating with customers to ensure satisfaction. We value safety, accuracy, and reliable service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Michigan FAST test within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum 2+ years of Fire Alarm Service experience required.
  • 3+ years of Fire Alarm Service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Service, diagnose, and repair/replace fire alarm systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Notifier Onyx Series.
  • Program and commission new fire alarm installations.
  • Repair electronics using test equipment and parts.
  • Ensure systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
  • Explain system function to end users and provide demo.
  • Maintain strong customer service and communication with staff and customers.
  • Complete daily service acknowledgements and safety documentation.

VFP Fire Systems, a division of VFPG, in Madison Heights, MI is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our skilled team. We partner closely with our clients, earning their trust to safeguard their property and provide all their fire alarm needs. By delivering world-class fire alarm services and advanced technology, we ensure safety and peace of mind. The Fire Alarm Service Technician role plays a critical part in our service. In this role, you will service, diagnose, and repair/replace fire alarm systems, helping us uphold the high standards our customers depend on.

Responsibilities:
  • Service, troubleshooting, and resolving existing fire alarm system issues
  • Troubleshoot and repair Notifier Onyx Series.
  • Program and commission new fire alarm system installations
  • Repair electronic components using electronic test equipment and replacement parts.
  • Ensure systems comply with electrical and fire codes.
  • Explain and demonstrate system function and operation to end users.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with company staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform administrative duties including completing daily service acknowledgements, safety documentation, and other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge low voltage systems, fire alarm systems and installation
  • Demonstrated ability to use codes and standards to install fire alarm systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read installation and system manuals.
  • Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
  • Experience in Fire Alarm required.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass Michigan FAST test within 6 months of employment
  • Minimum 2+ years of Fire Alarm Service experience required
  • 3+ years of Fire Alarm Service experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders.
  • Regularly ascend/descend ladders up to 16 feet.
  • Physically able to install system hardware and wiring.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time to a height of 3-4 feet.
  • Perform general job duties at an elevated height via aerial lift.
Pay Range
  • $38/hr - $48+/hr depending on experience and abilities
  • PTO, Profit Sharing, Gain Sharing, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k with match, Employee Stock Purchase Plan , Long-term disability
