Description/Job Summary

The Building People, LLC, has a full-time Fire Alarm Technician position supporting a federal agency in Reston, VA. Responsibilities include assisting the On-site Project Manager, conducting quality control checks, and performing maintenance on fire management systems across various USGS campus buildings.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Perform service, maintenance, and testing of fire management systems in USGS buildings.
  • Test firefighters’ service recall systems on elevators monthly and report results.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and safety guidelines.
  • Provide timely updates to the client, assist with construction projects, review drawings, and generate SOPs.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance.
Required Skills
  • NICET Level 2 certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Factory training and certification for programming fire alarm systems.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong administrative and communication skills, ability to prioritize work.
Required Experience
  • Five years of facilities maintenance, quality control, and fire safety management experience.
  • Federal government experience.
Preferred Experience
  • Resource, schedule, and contract management experience; knowledge of FMMS and Microsoft Office.
Required Education
  • High school diploma.
  • Background screening and clearance may be required.
