Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Fire Inspector for our Morristown, NJ location serving the New York City metro area including the Bronx, Queens and Newark. You will perform inspections, testing, and minor repairs on fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA72 and local codes.

You will document tests, train customer personnel, and maintain safety and equipment readiness. The role requires electro-mechanical experience, ability to work in varied environments, and NICET Fire Alarm

Qualifications

• Electro-mechanical experience required (professional or educational).
• Ability to work in various environments around mechanical and electrical equipment; climb ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; work in ducts and different temperature conditions; use hand tools and office tech.
• Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level I within 12 months.
• Must be 18+ with a valid driver's license and eligibility for Siemens' fleet vehicle program.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Follow and maintain structured inspection schedules for fire alarm equipment per NFPA72 and local codes; note deficiencies, remedies, and review pricing with customers; complete service tickets and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain complete documentation of all tests; generate reports within Siemens tools and upload to city websites.
• Provide instruction to customer personnel on operation and routine inspections; assist with training.
• Overtime as needed; maintain stock, tools, and equipment in vehicles.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures (local, corporate, OSHA).
• Complete required training and certifications within set timeframes.

Fire Inspectors play a vital role in preventing, detecting, and mitigating the impact of fires. You will perform tasks such as minor repairs and visual and functional testing on fire alarm systems in accordance with all national and local standards. Our fire inspectors significantly contribute to public safety, property protection, and overall emergency preparedness.

As a Fire Inspector, you will:

• Follow and maintain high structured inspection schedules providing inspection, testing, and performing minor service and deficiency repairs for fire alarm equipment to comply with NFPA72 standards as well as state and local codes. Note deficiencies, remedies, and review pricing with customers. Complete service ticket documentation before leaving the customer site. Follow-up on corrective actions
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed. Generate reports within Siemens tools and upload to city municipality websites
• Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections. Assist with training
• Work overtime when needed, and maintain stock, tools, and equipment in vehicles
• Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
• Complete required training and certifications within the time requirements for this role

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• E lectro-mechanical experience ( either through pr ofessional experience and/or education)
• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical and electrical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions; use hand tools, laptop (proficient in Microsoft Office) , email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
• Must be able to differentiate types/colors of wire
• Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level I within 12 months
• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens' fleet vehicle program
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred
• 6+ months of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Alarm and/or Fire Life Safety Systems
• Ability to read/understand design and construction documents

The pay range for this position is $40,555 - $69,523annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
