Job summary

EML, LLC is hiring an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Mechanic to perform installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm detection and suppression systems. The role requires reading blueprints, diagnosing electrical issues, and coordinating with customers and subcontractors in a safety-conscious environment.

Required five years of hands-on fire alarm experience, an active driver’s license, and the ability to obtain NICET/NTS certifications within six months.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum five years testing and repairing fire alarm systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable in addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Must be able to obtain NICET/NTS certifications within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm detection and suppression systems.
  • Inspect equipment visually and replace defective components.
  • Test circuits, detectors, and system transmitters; perform repairs as needed.
  • Diagnose trouble in electrical systems and plan work from blueprints and drawings.
  • Interface with customers and provide feedback; comply with safety regulations.
  • Operate company vehicles and maintain tools and shop areas.
  • Serve as project POC for Fire Alarm System matters and assist subcontractors.

Fire Alarm System Tech

EML, LLC has an immediate opening for an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Mechanic. This is a full time position located in Memphis, TN.

Performs the fire alarms duties necessary to maintain all buildings and structures in good repair. Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered and identify and reports safety, environmental and other work requirements for resolution. Accurate, timely, and cost effective performance of duties. Working harmoniously with customers and fellow co-workers. Maintaining strict confidentiality of all EML LLC related matters. Accountable for assigned tools, materials and equipment. Cleanliness and safety of shop and work areas.

  • Installs, inspects tests, maintains, and repairs installed fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components.
  • Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
  • Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.
  • Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions.
  • Interfaces with customers and responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) environmental laws and regulations.
  • Follows Alutiiq C & W Services furnished information and directives; ACW JV Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ACW JV Policies and Procedures, and contract requirements.
  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Inspect and maintain Simplex class controllers
  • Inspect and perform maintenance on both wet and dry riser
  • Perform preventive maintenance on fire pumps
  • Serve as POC for the project on all matters concerning Fire Alarm System
  • Assist sub-contractor personnel
  • Be familiar with Fire System Sprinkler Design and Layout
  • Service and repair the following:
  • Public Address System
  • Water Leak Detection Systems
  • Emergency Power-off Systems
  • Muzak and TCC Systems
  • Will at all times wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined by position and duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of valid insurance
  • Minimum Five (5) years of testing and repairing fire alarm systems
  • Must be knowledgeable in addressable fire alarm systems
  • Must be knowledgeable in Monaco radio transmission
  • Must be able to work on high ladders and other high places
  • Working knowledge of solid-state and conventional control circuitry
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology and applicable facility/infrastructure codes and standards
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional & courteous manner in diverse situations
  • Proficiency and knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools
  • Demonstrated working ability read, write, speak and understand English

Certification:

  • CTV Systems
  • NICET Level 1 Certification (or must be able to obtain within 6 months)
  • NTS Certification
  • Simplex 4005/4006/4008/4010 Technician
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72/NFPA25
