Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm System Designer to design and engineer fire alarm systems per NFPA codes and project specs. You will work with AutoCAD, BIM coordination, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely project delivery.

The role requires experience in sprinkler design, NFPA code knowledge, and the ability to interpret plans and specifications while maintaining Sciens quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in sprinkler design.
• Proficient in design software (HydroCAD or AutoSprink).
• Understanding of fire sprinkler system type (Wet, Dry, Preaction, Deluge, Fire pump systems).
• Knowledge of NFPA codes (13, 14, 20, 24, 25).
• Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develops code-compliant sprinkler system layouts and designs.
• Performs hydraulic calculations and understands system demand.
• Prepares submittal packages with drawings, calculations, and data.
• Participates in BIM coordination meetings and resolves clashes.
• Works with project managers and field teams for practical installable designs.
• Identifies design issues early and notes potential changes.
• Create fabrication lists and review for accuracy.
• NICET II or III preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications.
• Review designs with the design team and drafters as requested by management.
• Develop floor plans, riser diagrams, schematics, power calculations, and control layouts using AutoCAD.
• Review all designs before approval to ensure quality and code compliance.
• Follow Sciens policies and procedures in daily work.
• Collaborate with sales and project managers to optimize design efficiency and quality.
