Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician in Kirkland, WA. The role independently performs core service and maintenance on fire alarm systems, diagnosing issues and ensuring code-compliant operations across commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 3+ years in fire and life safety, NICET II/FIRE ALARM (WA EL06), and the ability to work with drawings and manuals. A valid license may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Washington State EL06/NICET II‑Fire Alarm required.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks.
• If Driving Role: must have a clean driving record and active license.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Hands-on experience with security systems, cameras, and access control service and repair.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
• Accurately complete service reports, documentation, and inspection records.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

The Fire Alarm Service Technician is a role responsible for independently performing core technical functions related to the service of fire alarm systems. This position is capable of completing standard service and maintenance tasks without direct supervision. The technician applies industry knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and best practices to ensure systems are operating in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and service of fire alarm systems independently.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues and implement corrective actions.
• Hands-on experience with security systems, cameras, and access control service and repair.
• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision.
• Interpret system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to perform required tasks.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company policies.

Education/Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Washington State EL06/ NICET II-Fire Alarm required.
• Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, components, and troubleshooting methods.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• If Driving Role: Must have a clean driving record and active driver's license.

Other Duties:

• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.

Compensation:

$ 4 8 - $55 hourly depending on experience
