Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Fire Alarm Service Technician to service and program fire alarm systems. Join a culture that values growth, teamwork and excellence while protecting lives and assets for our customers and communities.

You will test, program, and commission fire safety systems, read blueprints and specifications, and ensure work complies with codes and safety policies. Willingness to travel locally is required.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer focus under pressure and ability to meet customer needs.
• Solid technical skills related to fire alarm or electronic security systems.
• Strong programming troubleshooting abilities.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites; minimal overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Test, program, and commission fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Service and maintain fire alarm systems and life safety equipment.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, and manuals.
• Work according to local/national codes and safety policies.
• Collaborate with team to improve operations and service delivery.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the testing, programming and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Assist in the servicing of fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programing of Fire Alarm Systems, schematics and operational/product manuals.
• Execute all work in accordance with local and national codes, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Act as our customers best service provider at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the first choice for service.
• Communicate and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
• Keep up to date and informed on all company policies.
• Present a professional image of Convergint Technologies at all times in appearance and behavior.

What You’ll Need

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Solid technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years as a fire alarm service technician with experience in programming EST 3 or EST 4 (Edwards) fire alarm systems or similar complexity.

Preferred Experience: (but not required): 2 years of hands-on experience in the commercial/ industrial/ low voltage/ electrical industry.

• NICET II Certification in Fire Alarm
• Associates degree in Electronic technology, Instrumentation
