HCI Systems Inc. in Irvine is seeking skilled Fire Alarm/Low Voltage/Security Designers to join our team.

You will design and generate low voltage and security system shop drawings, as well as prepare technical submittals, RFIs, and closeout documents for a wide range of projects. The role emphasizes AutoCAD proficiency and collaboration with project teams to ensure compliant, code-ready designs for multi-family, high-rise, and commercial buildings.

Qualifications

• Strong AutoCAD experience for low voltage and security systems.
• Experience with access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
• RCDD or similar certification desired.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable, self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
• Able to review contract documents for scope and conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Design low voltage and security shop drawings, including fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Prepare submittals, RFIs, calculations, and closeout docs.
• Apply National CAD Standards to shop drawings.
• Maintain engineering libraries and document control.
• Coordinate designs with AHJs, owners, and other trades.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, specs, and product manuals.
• Identify out-of-scope work from contracts and plans.
• Support multi-family, high-rise, and commercial projects.
