Job summary

Century Fire Protection is seeking a full-time Fire Alarm Installer/Technician to install, program, and test fire alarm systems per project drawings. Responsibilities include reading drawings, selecting parts, installing control panels, wiring, accessing crawl spaces or attics, performing tests, and completing final AHJ acceptance.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with 1–3 years related experience; fire alarm or low voltage installation is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• 1-3 years related experience or training preferred.
• Fire alarm and/or low voltage installation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fire alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Review drawings and verify parts for the job are accurate.
• Install and program fire alarm control panels and other equipment.
• Mount devices, install conduit and wiring per drawings and codes.
• Perform installation tasks including drilling and accessing crawlspaces or attics for wiring layouts.
• Identify and repair troubles and test devices for proper operation.
• Perform final acceptance testing with AHJ.
• Produce reports and documentation certifying installation.

Summary

Responsible for installation, programming, and testing of fire alarm systems per project design drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret fire alarm and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Review drawings and verify parts for job are accurate.
• Install and program fire alarm control panels and other equipment.
• Mount devices, install conduit (if applicable) and wiring to connect system components per design drawings and applicable building codes and standards.
• Perform all tasks associated with fire alarm installation, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics to ensure optimal wiring layouts.
• Identify and repair any troubles and test all devices and components to ensure proper operation.
• Perform final acceptance testing with the AHJ.
• Produce reports and other documentation to certify the installation of the system.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Fire alarm and/or low voltage installation experience is preferred.
