Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician in Tampa, FL. The role involves independently inspecting, testing, and lightly troubleshooting fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and local codes, and documenting results for customers and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in fire and life safety, NICET Level I, and strong problem-solving abilities. This is a full-time on-site position with travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET Level I certification required; FASA/BASA credentials preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in fire and life safety inspections and testing.
• Strong troubleshooting and knowledge of NFPA 72 and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform fire alarm inspections and testing per NFPA standards.
• Conduct device activation, system checks, and alarm verification.
• Accurately document inspection and testing results.
• Identify deficiencies and perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs.
• Communicate findings with customers and internal teams.
• Interpret system drawings and technical documents.
