Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Fire Alarm Inspector IV to conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of Fire and Life Safety systems. A successful candidate will possess a NICET Level II Certification and have extensive experience with low voltage electrical systems, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in inspections and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Five to ten years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Life Safety Systems.
  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, and manuals is preferred.
  • Ability to move equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements and maintain structured inspection schedules.
  • Input and archive inspection documents electronically.

Job description

Join to apply for the Fire Alarm Inspector IV - with NICET II role at Johnson Controls.

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler, or Suppression life safety product lines, as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ products. Work involves low voltage wiring and related devices for low voltage equipment operation. Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding via communication devices such as laptops or hard copies. Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule. Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents electronically. Complete inspections on time and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:

  • Five to ten years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems and Fire and/or Life Safety Systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry and move equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Capability to work in challenging positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights up to 40 feet, within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and to travel out of town with overnight lodging if necessary.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, NICET Level II Certification, and valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meters.
  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
  • 1-3 years of additional experience in low voltage electrical systems is preferred.
