Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to perform inspection and maintenance of fire alarm systems in a code-compliant manner. You will coordinate with sales and project teams, produce field surveys and reports, and ensure on-time testing and cost control.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, NICET Level I, knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC, and the ability to read diagrams. Valid driver's license and OSHA-10 are preferred; strong communication and independent work are

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years' experience as an inspector technician in fire detection/protection.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm systems and clean agent/special hazard suppression.
  • NICET Level I certification.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 72 and IFC fire codes.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow specs.
  • Physically capable of demanding work; lift up to 25–50 lb; heights may be required.
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Work under deadlines and provide guidance to other inspectors.
  • Manage job scheduling and progress cost-effectively with quality focus.
  • Comply with industry standards and Sciens safety policies.

Job description

Position Overview

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to provide inspection and maintenance capabilities. This position will work closely with our sales team, field project teams, and clients to ensure our customers’ systems are inspected and maintained in a code‑compliant manner. It is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are important elements of the position.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Reviewing system layouts and coordinating with the systems and service departments for successful testing and inspection.
  • Producing field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
  • Inspecting and maintaining fire alarm systems.
  • Producing detailed inspection and deficiency reports in accordance with NFPA.
  • Delivering and testing on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Logging and transmitting inspection reports via technical devices.
  • Overseeing project inventory and responsibility for vehicle inventory.
  • Working under tight deadlines.
  • Providing support, guidance, and expertise to other inspectors.
  • Managing job scheduling and job progress efficiently and cost‑effectively, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Complying with standards and procedures of industry and Sciens safety programs/policies.
What We Like About You
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1‑3 years of experience in an inspector technician role within the fire detection and protection industry.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
  • NICET Level I certification.
  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 and IFC code or state‑adopted fire code requirements.
  • Ability to read technical drawings/diagrams and follow specifications.
  • Physical fitness to perform demanding work, including frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; ability to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to obtain OSHA 10 certifications.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

$35.00 - $40.00 per hour DOE.
