Job summary

Novalarm Systems Inc. is seeking a licensed Fire Alarm/Electronic Security Systems Install Technician to support installation across commercial, industrial, and residential clients.

The technician will handle low voltage installations including fire alarms, CCTV, and access control, primarily on 2nd/3rd shift with shift differentials. Strong safety, accuracy, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • MA Class D Low Voltage Electrical License or MA Journeyman Class B electrical license required
  • CT / RI / etc Low Voltage Electrical License preferred
  • NICET certifications preferred
  • OSHA 10 certified
  • Bosch experience preferred, but will train
  • 1+ years experience in installation of low voltage electrical systems

Responsibilities

  • Pull wires and feed cables, securing per state electrical code.
  • Install fire alarm, burglar alarm, CCTV, and access control devices.
  • Test and troubleshoot systems and networks as needed.
  • Read blueprints and electrical designs to guide installation.
  • Maintain project records: deadlines, time, materials, and receipts.
  • Follow OSHA and code regulations; operate vehicles and equipment safely.

Formal Job Title: Fire Alarm / Electronic Security Systems Install Technician


FLSA and Employment Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time


Schedule: Monday - Friday full time 40 hours, overtime, overnight and / or weekend hours may be required


Location: MA, NH, CT, other area states as applicable


Travel Requirement: up to 100% travel throughout the state of MA and surrounding areas


Pay Range: $30-50 per hour


Position Summary

Novalarm Systems Inc is seeking a licensed Fire Alarm / Electronic Security Systems Install Technician to add to our rapidly expanding team. We make security simple for our clients by providing white glove service and tailored solutions to meet their unique needs. This technician will primarily be responsible for supporting our Installation team in performing installation of low voltage systems and subsystems across commercial, industrial and residential clients. This includes installation work of fire alarm, burglar alarm, CCTV and access control systems.


This role primarily operates on 2nd and 3rd shift schedules and includes an additional shift differential for hours worked during those times.


Job Responsibilities


  • Pulling and feeding wires. Must have and continue to develop strong knowledge of proper wire securing guidelines per state electrical code. Must possess troubleshooting ability to diagnose and locate wire structure and connection issues.

  • Installing security system, fire alarm system, CCTV, and other access control devices. Must complete work in accordance with applicable electrical code requirements and regulations.

  • Tests and troubleshoots security system, fire alarm system, CCTV, and other access control devices / networks as needed.

  • Reading and following building plans, electrical designs and other blueprints as needed to perform the installation.

  • Demonstrates strong administrative skills through keeping track of project deadlines, work time, travel time, materials, receipts, inventory, and other information needed to complete the project.

  • Always abides by OSHA and code regulations. Operates work vehicles, scissor lifts, boom lifts, power tools and all other work-related items safely at all times. Adheres to our clients safety standards wherever applicable.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.


Professional Qualifications


  • MA Class D Low Voltage Electrical License or MA Journeyman Class B electrical license required

  • CT / RI / etc Low Voltage Electrical License preferred

  • Bosch experience preferred, but will train

  • 1+ years experience in installation of low voltage electrical systems

  • OSHA 10 certified

Physical Demands And Work Environment

  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.

  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, twisting and climbing ladders or scaffolding.

  • Getting into and operating machinery including but not limited to scissor lifts, boom lifts, excavator, etc.

  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

  • Work is performed outdoors year round and subject to various weather conditions.

  • Work is performed at construction sites and includes exposure to loud noises, flashing lights, and construction debris.

  • Must be able to work nights.
