Job summary

MK2 Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Designer/Engineer to join our California-based team. You will design fire alarm systems, prepare drawings, calculations and specifications for diverse projects while ensuring NFPA 72 and local codes compliance.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers and contractors, assist with permitting and plan-checks, and contribute to construction support. A relevant engineering degree with NFPA knowledge is required; NICET/PE is a plus.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $80,000–$110,000 annually (subject to confirmation)

MK2 Engineers, Inc. is looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Designer / Engineer to join our team!

We are an established multidisciplinary engineering firm providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for a variety of commercial, institutional, and government projects.

What You'll Do:

• Design fire alarm systems and prepare drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 72 and applicable building and fire codes.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers.
• Assist with permitting, plan-check comments, and construction support.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in fire alarm system design.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72 and California fire and life safety codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Engineering degree, NICET certification, or PE license is a plus,
• Experience with California projects is preferred.
