Job summary

MSS Fire and Security, LLC is seeking a Fire Engineer in the Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC offices. The role involves creating fire alarm shop drawings, coordinating with sales, and supporting installation and commissioning of fire safety systems.

The candidate should have 5+ years of fire alarm design experience, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and NICET certification. Experience with Honeywell Notifier and AutoCAD is preferred, along with familiarity with NFPA codes.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of fire alarm design experience.
• Experience satisfying North & South Carolina security licensing requirements.
• NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification.
• Healthcare and Data Center design experience is a plus.
• Licensed Professional Engineer is not required but would be a bonus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes and building codes.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Create fire alarm shop drawings including floor plan device layouts, equipment selections, and bill of material lists.
• Receive project specifications and design fire alarm, security, and CCTV systems for installation.
• Prepare submittals and schedule hand-off to operations.
• Assist in initial job site walk-through for retrofit or replacement assessments.
• Support field installation and commissioning per specifications and QC.
• Interface with pre-construction team as required.
• Maintain safe, clean, and orderly work area.
• Other duties as assigned by the Company.
