Job summary

RCM Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to create system layouts and ensure NFPA compliance. You will select equipment, coordinate with engineers and contractors, and prepare installation documentation for approvals.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of design experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and NICET certification is preferred. This role involves site surveys and some travel, with a focus on quality and safety across projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years fire alarm design experience or related field.
• Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Commercial/industrial project experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD required.
• NICET certification strongly preferred.
• MS Excel and Word proficiency.
• Strong self-discipline, teamwork, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm systems per NFPA and project specs.
• Create floor plans, riser diagrams, schematics and power calculations.
• Coordinate with sales, engineers, and contractors.
• Conduct site surveys and prepare scaled CAD files if needed.
• Prepare submittal packages and documentation for approval.
• Provide ongoing project support and knowledge transfer.
