Johnson Controls in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Fire Alarm Design Engineer with 3–5+ years of experience to plan, design, and document complex fire alarm systems. You will produce detailed schematics, coordinate with CAD teams, and ensure code-compliant, value-engineered solutions for small to medium projects.

Responsibilities include preparing detailed submissions, BOM development, and supporting project managers post-order to protect margins.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5+ years’ experience in design of Fire Alarm systems.
• NICET Certification Level I or Level II+.
• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Proficient in reading and understanding architectural and electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and plans own workload and collaborates with design teams.
• Prepares detailed technical submissions with schematics and drawings.
• Reviews initial designs for value engineering and code compliance.
• Coordinates with CAD Support to prepare project submissions and BOMs.
• Performs calculations to verify system design meets code requirements.
• Supports project managers to maintain margins and respond to inquiries.
