Job summary

Summit Fire & Security in Sanford, FL is seeking a Fire Alarm Apprentice to assist the Fire Alarm Superintendent in installing fire alarm systems at local sites. The role involves conduit installation, wiring, panel work, and equipment handling, with strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma, 0 years in Fire Life Safety, and 1+ years of computer skills, with a goal to advance to Fire Alarm Technician.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 years Fire Life Safety Industry experience, specifically in Fire Alarm, required.
• 1+ years of professional computer skills.
• Desire and ability to learn the tactful skills allowing promotion to a Fire Alarm & Security Technician.
• Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.
• Efficient time management skills developed organizational skills and ability to prioritize initiatives and business goals.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees.
• Strong diligence and accuracy.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist Fire Alarm Superintendent with installation of conduit, low voltage wiring, control panels, and other fire alarm equipment.
• Keep tools available and in serviceable condition on job site.
• Assist in cleaning job site, tools and equipment.
• Carry equipment, ladders, and parts from vehicle to required location.
• Learn and develop working knowledge of fire alarm and special hazards installation.
• Read and learn NFPA 72 and NEC 70 to advance NICET Certification.
• Follow safety programs and participate in toolbox talks.
• Know where safety documentation is located at all times on each project.
• Other duties as assigned.
