Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Cloud FinOps-focused engineer to optimize cloud and containerized workflows. You will analyze usage data, identify optimization opportunities, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for engineering, product, finance, and leadership.

You will build lightweight automation, dashboards, and scripts to reduce manual effort and improve cost visibility across teams. A strong cloud and engineering foundation with data-driven mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience analyzing or optimizing cloud infrastructure, containers, or Kubernetes workloads.
• Ability to use Python or another scripting language for basic automation and data tasks.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical and financial concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Analyze cloud and Kubernetes usage to identify idle capacity, inefficient workloads, cost anomalies and opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to evaluate recommendations and support implementation.
• Build lightweight scripts, API integrations, and repeatable workflows to automate analysis.
• Develop reports, dashboards, forecasts, and cost insights to help plan future cloud usage.
• Support cloud commitment planning, reservations, savings programs, and other cost-efficiency measures.
• Help expand FinOps practices through standards, documentation, education, and tooling.
