Summary: The Unconventional (TU) is seeking a qualified Transcriber to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) with Translation, Interpretation, Transcription, and other Linguistic Support Services (LSS). Activities include translating documents (written and electronic), video/audio media content (e.g., .wav files), and providing ancillary services such as court and deposition interpretation. Source materials may contain legal, business, administrative, medical, scientific, financial, historical, geographical, and military terminology, including technology-related concepts in sciences (chemical, physical, cyber). The specialized terminology varies considerably from everyday language in both target and source languages.
The materials to be translated, transcribed, or interpreted are legal in nature and may be provided in various formats, including electronic or hard copies of books, reports, legal documents, multimedia presentations, spreadsheets, emails, SMS, MMS, and audio/video files. The content can range from highly technical to informal street language and textspeak. Examples include medical reports, chemical lab reports, bank statements, cryptocurrency transactions, legal warrants, treaties, regulations, and law enforcement sensitive information. All materials are considered sensitive, requiring strict confidentiality and control measures.
