DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SAFETY
The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency committed to partnering with families, caregivers, and communities to strengthen families, ensure safety, and achieve permanency for all children through prevention, services, and support.
POSITION: FINANCIAL ANALYST 2

Location: 3003 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012

Salary: $30.673 hourly / $63,800 annually

Grade: 21

Job Summary:

The Financial Analyst (FA) class is a journeyman role within DCS Budget & Finance. The FA supports one or more programs or subprograms under the supervision of a Principal Financial Analyst. Responsibilities include preparing fiscal and operating reports, performing detailed fiscal and cash analyses, and serving as the primary contact for assigned programs. The position provides financial expertise on budgeting, cash management, reconciliation, compliance, federal reports, forecasts, and monitoring. It also involves communicating with department management, federal and other grantors, and completing assignments with quality and timeliness.

Job Duties:
  1. Serve as the main contact between the DCS Budget Office and assigned areas, providing guidance and support. Attend meetings, communicate effectively, and prepare relevant materials.
  2. Research and analyze expenditure and revenue trends, prepare reports, and develop forecasts.
  3. Determine funding needs and initiate transactions such as transfers, drawdowns, deposits, journal vouchers, and budget modifications.
  4. Assess impacts of federal and state legislation, policy changes, or funding modifications on assigned areas.
  5. Maintain fiscal and resource data, including caseload statistics and funding patterns. Prepare cost-benefit and break-even analyses.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business administration with a focus on accounting, finance, or economics from an accredited institution, or a Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related fields.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry. All new hires must complete the E-Verify process.
