Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass respirator fit testing and stay clean-shaven per OSHA standards
  • Must wear tight-fitted respirator during shift
  • Complete annual respirator fit testing and medical evaluations

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Lead with rolling out new parts and training new team members

  • Support project lead with material inventory control and waste reduction
  • Monitor material usage and report scrap/waste per procedures
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and finishing best practices

  • Reinforce compliance with procedures and report discrepancies
  • Assist with controlling and reviewing part quality throughout production
  • Notify project lead of COPQ concerns
  • Support and coach team members through quality issues
  • Promote a clean and organized workspace and maintain PPE compliance
  • Report improper behavior to Finishing Leads
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Participate in performance evaluations and provide improvement suggestions
  • Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies
  • Support continuous improvement efforts

Position Overview

The Finishing Team Lead supports the Project Lead in overseeing a small, dedicated team within the Finishing Department. This role is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and maintaining production activities related to specific projects. The Finishing Team Lead ensures team members are properly trained, processes are followed, and production goals are met while maintaining quality, safety, and a respectful work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Lead with rolling out new parts and training new team members.
  • Coach and supervise team members to ensure project success.
  • Facilitate daily operational processes and team coordination.
  • Support Project Lead with material inventory control and waste reduction.
  • Monitor material usage and report scrap/waste in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to Finishing Best Practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation (e.g., checklists, ply books).
  • Reinforce compliance with procedures and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist with controlling and reviewing part quality throughout production.
  • Notify Project Lead of Cost of Poor-Quality (COPQ) concerns.
  • Support and coach team members through quality-related issues.
  • Promote and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Reinforce cleaning procedures and workplace standards.
  • Contribute to a respectful and positive work environment.
  • Report any improper behavior or conduct to Finishing Leads.
  • Ensure team members are wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Address PPE violations and elevate as needed.
  • Provide input on employee performance evaluations.
  • Offer suggestions for improving operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies.
  • Report safety risks and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring to the Team
  • High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED), or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to pass required respirator fit testing and remain clean-shaven in areas where a tight-fitted respirator seals to the face, in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to wear a tight-fitted respirator for the duration of the assigned shift, as required by the position.
  • Successfully complete all applicable respiratory protection requirements, including a medical evaluation and respirator fit testing.
  • Complete annual fit testing, with additional medical evaluations as required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in composites lamination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance record.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to fostering a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills; collaborates well across teams and departments.
  • Adaptable to changing work environments, priorities, and production schedules.
  • Able to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and contribute to team success.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and respond promptly.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work in various physical conditions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Hours of Operation

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, overtime, and holidays as scheduled by leadership. This position is required to work on-site during scheduled business hours. Any exceptions for remote or work-from-home arrangements must be reviewed and approved in advance by the employee’s manager.
